Milwaukee Apple Tree Project

Did you read the newest issue of Edible Milwaukee? If so, you hopefully read all about the Milwaukee Apple in the article “Milwaukee Has Its Own Apple.” Check it out here or pick up your own copy of Edible in an Outpost store near you. Also stay tuned for more information about our “Applesauced” event in collaboration with #MKEfoodies & Edible Milwaukeec in celebration of the MKE apple. The event will be held October 23rd at Best Place Milwaukee. If you have questions about the MKE Apple Tree project in general, please contact Jennifer at JCasey@slowfoodwise.org.

Edible Milwaukee, MKEfoodies, and Slow Food WiSE will unite to bring you Apple Sauced!, a spirited celebration of local and heirloom apples. Join us on October 23 from 7-10 PM at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery, 901 West Juneau Avenue. Tickets to Apple Sauced! cost $30 and can be purchased at applesauced.eventbrite.com. Apple desserts, harvest-themed activities, and Fall-flavored spirits will all be on the menu.
In addition, the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association will lend their voices – and maybe even their gavels! – to do a live auction of pies and sweets from our local partners throughout the night.
At the event, enjoy samples from:
  • The Bartolotta Restaurants
  • Braise
  • Chef Gregory Leon
  • Great Lakes Distillery
  • Honeypie
  • Indulgence Chocolatiers
  • Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks
  • Island Orchard Cider
  • Larry’s Market
  • Maxie’s/Blue’s Egg
  • The National Cafe
  • Treat Bake Shop
  • Trocadero
  • Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board
Proceeds from Apple Sauced! will support Edible Milwaukee‘s mission to amplify Milwaukee’s achievements to food fans locally and nationwide. A portion of the funds will also go toward Slow Food WISE’s Milwaukee Apple Project, which aims to encourage a return to greater biodiversity and save place-based varietals, and to MKEfoodies, whose Community Partner program aims to engage citizens with community organizations, educate them about what they do, and inspire to help them to make a difference.
We hope to see you there!
