When Dole Corporation leaders discovered Bananas!*, a 2009 documentary recounting the lawsuit of 12 Nicaraguan plantation workers against Dole, they tried to silence Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Gertten with lawsuits and smear campaigns. In Big Boys Gone Bananas!*, Gertten documents Dole’s dirty tricks, illustrating free expression’s fragility and an individual’s power to fight
corporations.
