Join us for Apple Sauced! 2014 — a harvest event that is sweet, spirited and oh-so-much fun.
We’ll have fall themed food & drink samples from vendors including 5 Lilies, Afro-Fusion Cuisine, Amilinda, Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro, Honeypie Cafe, Island Orchard Cider, Juniper 61, Larry’s Market, Purple Door Ice Cream, Sassy Cow Creamery and MORE!

Wellspring’s annual Free Farm Festival, Agri-CULTURE Fest – is a celebration of the culture in agriculture and all things local, organic and sustainable! Wellspring offers a series of monthly cooking classes, inspiring students based on veggies during their peak season! In each class, a chef leads demos and tastings, and provides healthy cooking tips. Wine served to accompany each tasting and recipe handouts to take home. Assorted root vegetables will be the highlighted produce items for October! This category includes carrots, beets, parsnips, rutabaga, celeriac, and more!
Cost: $30 for those pre-registered the Monday before, $35 at the door (if openings)

Tour participants will learn about all the systems and processes that work together on a diversified, organic veggie farm while walking the fields and, of course, sampling veggies in peak season! Immerse yourself in a weekend workshop all about food preservation! Lead by Master Preserver Christina Ward, students will go home with the knowledge to start or expand upon their own food processing for long term storage. In this hands on workshop, students will work together, learning and creating several types of preserved foods to take home.
The workshop participants can elect to take the whole weekend workshop or individual days. The schedule for each day is listed below.

Wellspring offers a series of monthly cooking classes, inspiring and teaching students how to use various veggies during peak season! In each class, a chef demonstrates recipes using the featured produce of the month and provides healthy cooking tips. Attendees enjoy tastings of each dish, with an accompanying glass of wine, and receive recipe handouts to take home. Highlighted seasonal produce for September is Kale!

Learn about foraging safety, ethics, and plant families. Collect, harvest, and taste wild edibles currently in season. After the foray, enjoy appetizers featuring plants found on the tour. Bring home what you collect as well as recipes and guides for future foraging!

UW-Extension Family Living Educators from Milwaukee and Waukesha County are offering 2 classes on food preservation in August at the Milwaukee County UW-Extension office (and you can get here from there – but you might need some directions!).
