SLOW FOOD NATION The inaugural Slow Food Nation, August 29th - Sept 1, 2008, is a 4 day exposition and celebration of food in San Francisco. Its mission is to change the way America eats through debates, lectures, tastings and demonstrations. Slow Food Nation will highlight the life-enhancing benefits of food that is good, clean and fair.
TERRA MADRE Terra Madre is a growing international network of more than 9,000 food producers, cooks, educators and youth working towards increasing small-scale, traditional, and sustainable food production. The Terra Madre conference gathers the network on even-numbered years in Turin, Italy to partake in dialogue and exchange about the production and consumption of food that is good, clean and fair.
RENEWING AMERICA'S FOOD TRADITIONS ALLIANCE (RAFT)As an alliance of food, farming, and environmental and culinary advocates, RAFT partners havce joined together to identify, restore and celebrate America's biologically and culturally diverse food traditions through conservation, education, promotion and regional networking. RAFT initiatives bring food producers, chefs and consumers together to develop and promote conservation strategies, sustainable food production and awareness of the endangered foods and food traditions of the United States.
SLOW FOOD IN SCHOOLS Slow Food in School's Garden-to-Table projects range from after-school cooking classes to farm tours to schoolyard gardens. We currently have more than 30 garden-to-table projects around the country. Slow Food on Campus is a network of Campus Convivia run by college and university students across the country and is the working arm of Slow Food USA in the college community addressing food system and food justice issues.
The Slow Food Ark of Taste and Presidia programs identify high quality traditional foods in danger of extinction and promote them in the marketplace. Through partnerships with farmers, fishers, breeders and artisans, these projects also offer promotional and technical assistance to guarantee their survival.
